Theatre 3

Theatre 3 is broken into three sections.  The first section will be our one-act competition piece, the second part is a dance composition, and the third is a technical theatre project.  The VHSL one act competition is held the first weekend in November.  We will be working on a piece for this competition.  For the dance composition, you will be expected to dance and move and do so in several genre types.  It is important for actors (especially musical theatre majors) to know basic choreography so that if a director wants you to move a certain way for a production, you will know how.  We will be researching different aspects of technical theatre and presenting a project to the class at the end of the semester.  We will also spend a good amount of time on the auditioning process by performing several monologues (comedic and dramatic) to prepare them for college auditions and interviews.

A note about absences:
Please remember that because they are graded daily on performance, if your child is absent, you must send a written note to the attendance office to excuse the absence or they will have a zero.  I will audit my grade book with the attendance calendar once every week (or so) and if the attendance office has either an unexcused absence or unverified, your child will receive a zero.  According to KGHS policies, a phone call is not sufficient to excuse the absence, although we appreciate when you call in to let us know they won't be there.  However, it must be a written note turned in to Ms. Bienz in attendance.

If you have questions or concerns, please email me.
